Hi, Fantasy!

Hi, Fantasy! is a Powered by the Apocalypse pen-and-paper fantasy RPG built for worlds full of magic and mystery. It adapts Vincent and Meguey Baker's Apocalypse World ruleset (https://www.apocalypse-world.com) for traditional fantasy adventures. Use the example setting provided, Highmagick, or plug in your favorite campaign setting using easy-to-hack rules that are designed for customization!

Features of this game include:

Distinct dice mechanic based on d12+d8 instead of 2d6.

No alignment, no clerics. As a temple-agnostic ruleset, you're free to include as much or as little divine interference as suits your style of play.

Intentional character customization. In addition to the basic Stats and Playbook, characters are comprised of Focuses, Flaws, and Talents, giving you ample opportunities to create a fully-realized character of your own design.

Modular move mechanics are easy-to-use, detailing how to resolve actions in broad strokes. That way, you can spend less time on resolution mechanics and more on what the result means in your narrative.

A focus on home-brew. Guidelines are provided for creating your own Focuses and Flaws, supported with hundreds of examples, rather than handing you a bunch of arbitrary lists.

Common Progression Elements. Dozens of General Talents grouped into 4 sections (Sword, Speech, Guile, and Craft) are available to all characters, in addition to the specialized Talents each Playbook provides.

Thematic Playbooks. Playbooks focused on character themes: how the character performs, instead of what the character does. Play a fighter, thief, or magic-user in the Architect, Bravo, Paragon, Virtuoso, or Visionary playbook.

Freeform Magic. The customizable narrative magic system is available to every single character in the game. It's  based on schools ('methods') of magic instead of discrete spell lists, but has more than 50 examples of unique spells and a veritable cornucopia of example magic items to support your campaign.

Hosts of Monsters. The Adversaries chapter has 30+ entries with common NPCs, monsters, and overlays that you can apply to each entry to modify their ability set.

Organic Character Development. A goal-based character improvement system where PCs grow by developing and working toward their own ends. Or, if you prefer, an alternative improvement system based on Orcs Unlimited's (https://www.orcsunlimited.com) exciting experience mechanic.

The book has no art and was produced by a team of one, so the cost for this 330-page A5 PDF is deceptively cheap. Don't be fooled! The price point reflects my lack of production staff, not a lack of effort.
